Known as an expert in all I survey, I freely share my opinions on politics, science & theology using diatribes based upon careless research from tertiary sources that confirmed what I thought in the first place. I do not fear the extermination of the human race by sentient robots from the future, as I know it will be preceded by the zombie apocalypse instead. My only desire is that you find me pleasing.

We moved into our new apartment yesterday, though there is more to take over, but we did get the kitchen table in. We got McDonalds, brought it back and had dinner together. Even Molly took a seat. Everyone was talking and laughing and planning our next steps. Things done best over a table with Big Macs and Fish Fillets. We were all together and it was very heartwarming. Family is the most important thing on earth and nothing is more attacked, yet at the same time, more needed.

Family is the most important institution on earth. It is the bedrock of civilization, the primary unit of the nation, and the foundation upon which God builds His kingdom. It is also the most fiercely attacked aspect of our lives today. The forces of the modern world work tirelessly to atomize the individual, replace parental authority with state bureaucracy, and dissolve the natural order of the home. Yet, precisely because of this hostility, the family is more needed now than ever.

As Scripture reminds us, we are called to be intentional about the life we build under our own roofs:

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15, NASB 1977)

The table is the altar of the home. It is where we break bread, instruct our children, and provide the consistency that makes a household a fortress against the chaos of the age.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1, NASB 1977)

We must guard these moments. In a culture of digital distraction and social alienation, sitting down together—physically present, undistracted, and united—is an act of resistance. The enemy desires a broken people, but God calls us to be fruitful and to pass on our inheritance.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6, NASB 1977)

Our strength begins at this table. By cultivating strong, Christ-centered families, we build facts on the ground that the prevailing powers cannot easily reverse. We continue to build, we continue to gather, and we continue to raise the next generation of our people to know who they are and to whom they belong.
